Worthy In Every Way

Here is a question I am typically asked by an event organizer:  "Do you really only donate your time to perform your Hypnotic Experience show?

Yes...it's true.  I donate my time to entertain at events hosted by schools, community groups, and charitable organizations.  I also perform at private events.  Yet, rather than accepting payment, I ask the organizer to make a donation to their favorite charity.

Why am I so generous?

For starters, I am fortunate to have a "real job" that provides me the flexibility and stability to contribute my time and efforts to help worthy and meaningful organizations host a successful event.

Second, my reward is the kind words and wonderful feedback I often receive from appreciative event organizers, educators, and parents.  Here is a recent example from the team at Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School, who included my Hypnotic Experience show at their "Wellness Palooza" event.

Thank you so much, Marc!  What a great afternoon for all of us! Your message was fun, positive and powerful and we all enjoyed having you back on campus with us!

As we begin our summer, I want you to know that we truly appreciate you! We are so  appreciative of the work you do and the time you spend with us. In no small part because of you and your message, our Palooza was everything we hoped it would be and more.  Our community is better because of you and we look forward to inviting you back next year.

With great warmth and appreciation,

Melissa, Rachel and Roz

Visualization for Career Success to Benefit Rising Stars

I had a fast paced winter and spring schedule with more than 40 performances of my Hypnotic Experience show.

Highlights included entertaining at after prom and all night graduation parties at 14 high schools; presentations to psychology students at Georgetown University, Northern Virginia Community College and Montgomery College; and a keynote talk and hypnosis demonstration at the Women Empower Expo in Washington, DC.

At the end of June I needed a breather and planned to take the summer off.  That is until I had an opportunity to support Rising Stars.

Created in 2012 by business leader and entrepreneur Oliver Carr, Rising Stars raises money to support organizations that help at-risk children succeed in education and their community.  The organization believes every child deserves a quality education to become a thriving member of society.

Please join me on Thursday, August 3 at 3 PM in Chevy Chase, Maryland for a very special talk about how to use the practice of visualization for health, wellness and career success.  It’s a free event, although a $5 donation is encouraged.  The money raised at this event will go directly to help Rising Stars support students in the Washington, DC area.

You can RSVP to Melissa at melissa.manrique@carrworkplaces.com or by phone at (301) 968-2361.

I’ve included the promotional flyer below that has more information and how to RSVP.

2 Great Shows to Check Out This Week

Nearly three years ago I shifted my focus as an entertainer from stand-up comedy to a fun, family friendly, informative and (most important) unique hypnosis show.

Rather than a carnival-like atmosphere, my goal is for the volunteers and audience to gain an appreciation for the practice of hypnosis and visualization.  I want to dispel the misconceptions about hypnosis, and focus on its use as a tool for health, wellness, happiness and success.

I’ve since created a myriad of versions of “Hypnotic Experience” to address the needs of a specific audience.  There’s a comedy show for high school after proms and college social events; strolling entertainment for street fairs and community festivals; and even a more academic version for psychology and health classes.

This week I have two performances lined up that I’d like to invite you to attend:

Wednesday, June 25 from 6 PM to 9 PM

This is one of my most favorite charitable events of the year because GreenWheaton is such a fabulous organization with such an important mission.  Unlike other more policy oriented environment groups, GreenWheaton works at the grassroots level helping businesses and households adopt more sustainable practices.

I performed as a strolling entertainer at last year’s gala and had a wonderful time.  Here is a write-up of my experience sharing hypnosis with attendees.

Please consider attending this event by purchasing a ticket at this link.  Type in the promo code GREEN and you’ll receive a discounted rate on the ticket.

Hosted by Carr Workplaces on Friday, June 27 at 12 PM (includes lunch)
1750 Tysons Boulevard, Suite 1500, McLean VA

I’ll lead an entertaining discussion about how busy professionals can harness visualization as a tool for:

--Relaxation and stress management
--Better and more restful sleep at night
--Inspire self-confidence
--Healthier eating habits
--Focus and concentration at work
--More energy and positive outlook on life

This is a complimentary event offered by Carr Workplaces and...yes...it includes lunch.  Please message me at m.russell.hausman@gmail.com if you'd like to attend and I will make all of the arrangements.

Going Green with Hypnosis

I have the privilege and honor to perform “Hypnotic Experience” to support organizations that provide a meaningful service to the community.

Last month, I was part of the entertainment line-up at Nourish Now’s annual fundraiser.  On June 30, I’m hosting an evening of comedy and music in partnership with Sofire Music to benefit the Operation Renewed Hope Foundation.

And I’ve been invited back to perform at the Bradley Farm Haunted House festival in October.  This event benefits Herndon-Reston FISH, a charitable group in Northern Virginia.

Now, I am thrilled to share with you that I’ll be part of an event to raise money for GreenWheaton, a non-profit that provides education and outreach that promotes Wheaton, Maryland as a model sustainable community with a green and healthy environmental footprint.

On Thursday evening June 27th at Brookside Gardens in Wheaton, the organization will host its anniversary gala for friends, supporters, residents, local business owners and county representatives.  The event will feature an electric car show, door prizes, and local beer, wine and food.

Money raised from the event will be put to good work, funding educational events for the Wheaton community on the importance of living and working green.

I’ll be at the event to engage small groups of guests to demonstrate the power of positive visualization in a fun and entertaining fashion.  My focus on health, wellness, stress management and life achievement is right in step with the philosophy of GreenWheaton.

So…please join me on June 27th at Brookside Gardens to recognize this wonderful group.  Tickets are $30 and can be purchased online at this link.

GreenWheaton's annual gala is on June 27th at Brookside Gardens.

Nourish Now's "A Night in Vegas" Fundraiser

The practice of hypnosis for health, wellness, stress management, career or academic accomplishment, and athletic achievement is a personal passion.

Performing my Hypnotic Experience show at community festivals, street fairs, fundraisers, school events and private parties is just plain fun.

As an entertainer, you quickly learn the need for some type of differentiation for your show.  Regardless of whether you are in comedy, music, dance or performance art, you need to uncover the thing that appeals to a broad audience and makes your act special and unique.

When concepting Hypnotic Experience I knew I did not want to be just another comedy stage hypnotist.  There’s nothing wrong with those shows, yet they all tend to be similar.

So what’s my thing?  In Hypnotic Experience I combine stand-up comedy and a dash of improv with a demonstration of the power of positive visualization to unlock creativity and promote wellness.

The show consistently receives rave reviews from event organizers and attendees, helping me book four or five performances a month.

Plus, I’m fortunate to have a wonderful full-time career as a social media marketing consultant.  This allows me to donate my time to perform Hypnotic Experience at no cost for charitable groups, non-profits and community organizations.

It’s fun and rewarding!

Tomorrow evening (Saturday, June 1) I’m fortunate to be part of a line-up of entertainers at Nourish Now’s “A Night in Vegas” annual fundraiser to be held at the Progress Club in Rockville, Maryland.

Created in May 2011 by business executive Brett Meyers, Nourish Now collects surplus food from restaurants in the Washington, DC area and delivers it to organizations that provide assistance to the homeless.  It’s a worthy cause and comparable to the Operation Renewed Hope Foundation, a non-profit I’ve performed for because of their support of homeless veterans.

Rather than a traditional stage show performance, I’ll be working the crowd at the Nourish Now event engaging small groups of guests with a bit of humor and, if interested, a fun demonstration of hypnosis.

I encourage you to join me tomorrow in Rockville for what will be a wonderful evening of food, fun and entertainment.  You can purchase tickets here

Deep sleep:  the instant hypnotic induction is a hit with crowds during a performance.
