Visualization for Career Success to Benefit Rising Stars

I had a fast paced winter and spring schedule with more than 40 performances of my Hypnotic Experience show.

Highlights included entertaining at after prom and all night graduation parties at 14 high schools; presentations to psychology students at Georgetown University, Northern Virginia Community College and Montgomery College; and a keynote talk and hypnosis demonstration at the Women Empower Expo in Washington, DC.

At the end of June I needed a breather and planned to take the summer off.  That is until I had an opportunity to support Rising Stars.

Created in 2012 by business leader and entrepreneur Oliver Carr, Rising Stars raises money to support organizations that help at-risk children succeed in education and their community.  The organization believes every child deserves a quality education to become a thriving member of society.

Please join me on Thursday, August 3 at 3 PM in Chevy Chase, Maryland for a very special talk about how to use the practice of visualization for health, wellness and career success.  It’s a free event, although a $5 donation is encouraged.  The money raised at this event will go directly to help Rising Stars support students in the Washington, DC area.

You can RSVP to Melissa at melissa.manrique@carrworkplaces.com or by phone at (301) 968-2361.

I’ve included the promotional flyer below that has more information and how to RSVP.

3 Snapshots of Hypnosis in Action

I enjoy all aspects of a Hypnotic Experience performance gone right – the engaged audience, interested volunteers and an appreciative event organizer.

Perhaps most rewarding for me though is the one-on-one conversations I often have after a show with individuals who become interested in how to incorporate self-hypnosis into their life.  It’s all about empowerment for health, wellness and exceptional living.

Last week I had the pleasure to meet individually with three women who I have met at either a show or in some other social environment.  Each has a specific challenge they sought to address through the practice of hypnosis and positive visualization.

Here’s a snapshot of each:

Focused Professional

About
An intelligent, dynamic person who works in a highly skilled career environment, often defined by pressure situations.

Goal
Reduce anxiety and improve performance when giving a presentation in front of a significant number of colleagues and/or peers.

Visualization
Focus on a moment of personal and/or professional accomplishment and subconsciously attach the feeling of strength and confidence to a power word.

Mother To Be

About
A newly expectant mother in a loving relationship with one son.

Goal
Become a non-smoker without the use of the patch or other type of nicotine based solution.

Visualization
Healing waters to wash away the desire to smoke, subconsciously replacing it with feelings of connection to family.

Pulled in Many Directions

About
A finance executive and single mother of three children all under the age of 10.

Goal
Stress management and patience to facilitate more productive interactions with children.

Visualization
Subconsciously connect the face (or thoughts) of her children with a sense of love, comfort and serenity.

Busy Execs Get Hip to the Power of Visualization

Talking visualization for career success at Carr Workplaces.

Stresses fill our lives.

There is family, friend and relationship stress.  There’s wellness and sleeping stress.  And, of course, there is the all consuming “I never have enough time in the day” stress.

Yet, career-related anxiety and tension defines the conversation whenever I speak to professional organizations about the use of self-hypnosis as a tool for stress management, confidence and healthier living.

That’s because there is so much at stake when it comes to performance on the job.  A positive and productive career path inspires us, elevates self-perceptions and affords us financial security.  This is especially true in such a type A town like Washington, DC.

Last month I was invited by Carr Workplaces to speak with a group of executives about the use of positive visualization to enhance executive decision-making.   Research shows that business professionals who meditate and visualize success are happier, productive and more effective.

The event attracted an exceptional group of business leaders and fast risers, each of whom expressed an interest in new and alternative approaches to boost career performance.  I kept my talk brief at about 20 minutes and focused on my path of discovery, which was initiated by a dramatic job misstep that led to my consulting firm being fired by a major client.

The venue was not appropriate to dive into a significant discussion of hypnosis or demonstrate a basic induction.  However, I’ve since been contacted by several attendees who are interested in scheduling a follow-on chat to learn more.

That’s the first step – a desire to learn more.  From there, a person can decide how visualization, meditation and…yes…even self-hypnosis can fit into their career path.

I used my own career mistakes to illustrate how stress can negatively impact job performance.
