It's Been a Hypnotic Summer

Hypnotized at the after prom!
Tomorrow morning my wife and I put our now sixth grader on the bus for his first day of middle school. Thirty minutes later our 9-year-old will board as well heading for fourth grade.

Wow…the summer went by lightning fast.

It has been an incredibly fun and rewarding 3-1/2 months for my Hypnotic Experience show.  I kicked the summer off by entertaining at nine high school after prom and graduation parties, and then wrapped things up earlier this month with a headline performance at the Arlington County Fair.

I also struck up a relationship with Peterson’s Ice Cream Depot, a charming, community-centric and family-owned business in Clifton, Virginia.  I appeared on-site to entertain their customers five times during the summer.

My blog continued to grow in readership with my three best read articles of all time published this month.  Each has attracted more than 1,000 readers.  I’ve included links below.

Stay tuned for announcements of upcoming shows and appearances.  I’ll be on-site at the Burke Centre Festival in Northern Virginia in mid-September and will have specifics of dates and times in the coming days.

Kind Words

Perhaps the most rewarding part of performing my Hypnotic Experience show for community based organizations, non-profits, public schools and family owned businesses is the sincere appreciation expressed by event organizers and guests.

Here is the most recent example.  A wonderfully kind and considerate Email from the head of the entertainment committee at the Arlington County Fair, where I headlined the indoor stage on a Saturday night earlier this month.

Check out Hypnotic Experience this coming Saturday, August 29 when I return to Clifton, Virginia for a series of shows at Peterson's Ice Cream Depot.

Dear Marc,

On behalf of the entire Arlington County Fair Board of Directors, please share my thanks with all who provided support for the Hypnotic Experience in performing at the Arlington County Fair on August 8, 2015!  We truly appreciate the fact that you all donated your time and talent to make it a memorable fair for our attendees.  You put on an incredible show, and provided a wonderful way for our fair attendees to experience our Summer Nights and Lights Fair.

We hope you will consider returning to the Indoor Stage next year as we celebrate our 40th year! Looking forward to seeing you all again!

Best Wishes,
Lisa Barrera

Wonderful Night at the Arlington County Fair

Without volunteers there is no hypnosis show.  Great audience at last night's Hypnotic Experience show.

A measure of event organizer satisfaction and audience appreciation is how often I have the opportunity to return to a venue to perform.

Thankfully, I have struck up a relationship with the folks at the Arlington County Fair which allowed me to be part of the entertainment on the indoor stage for two years running.

"I'm a Hypnotist" shirt.
My "Hypnotic Experience" show last night was tremendous fun.  It was well attended and featured an amazing group of volunteers.

The photos included in this post were taken by my friend Lauren Klumpp, who was kind enough to swing by the fair to check out my show.

The organizers of the Arlington County Fair put together a well run event with food, entertainment and amusement options.  I'll be back at the Fair today with my wife and three sons to simply enjoy the event as guests and catch a running of the racing piglets.

It is then vacation time with the family before returning to the stage on Saturday, August 29 at 6:30 PM Peterson's Ice Cream Depot in historic, Clifton, VA.  I will also be part of the Burke Centre Festival in Burke, VA on September 12 and 13.  It's my third year in a row supporting the good folks at Burke Centre!

UPDATE: Kind words from a woman who enjoyed my "Hypnotic Experience" show at the Fair:

"My son and I watched your show yesterday and just loved it! I even raved about your show to my mom in India and she can't wait to see you when she visits me. Just wrote to Ms. Amy Doane, the chairperson of the fair and mentioned how great your show was."  Anita Panwar

X-Men Apocalypse Star Finds Health through Hypnosis

Actress Olivia Munn has lots of motivation to exercise.

She’s currently filming X-Men Apocalypse and, of course, she is romantically linked to NFL quarterback Aaron Rodgers.  The prospect of standing next to a world class athlete on the red carpet would inspire many to hit the gym.

Yet, for Olivia the prospect of working out was less than appealing.  She explained to Good Housekeeping magazine she often struggled to get out of bed in the morning to find her way to the fitness club.

Olivia’s solution?  Hypnosis!

Check out this article in Redbook magazine about how the visualization process created a powerful sub-conscious desire to achieve and maintain health and wellness.

I don’t love that the writer referred to hypnosis as a “kooky thing.”  However, the meaningful outcome in Olivia’s life is what’s important.

Deep Fried Oreos & Other Fun Fair Fare

Summer is community festival season and this weekend I was fortunate to be part of the entertainment at the Fairfax County 4-H Fair and Carnival.

I captured a couple of images from my two days at performing at this wonderful event, which I have included below.

Next Saturday night, August 8 at 7 PM I'll be on the indoor stage to perform "Hypnotic Experience" at the Arlington County Fair.  This too is a fun and family friendly event with a myriad of rides, games, amusements and entertainment.

Frying Pan Farm Park is Herndon, Virginia is a well kept and spacious facility.  Perfect to host a fair!

Lots of rides and games at the Fairfax County 4-H Fair and Carnival.

Fair entertainment is typically a diverse group of musicians, performers and local groups.

Yum!  Fine fare at the fair.  As I'm now in my mid-40s, my days of eating treats has long since passed.
