My Hypnotic Visit to Northwest High School

Each academic year I donate my time to speak on campus at more than a dozen Montgomery County high schools about hypnosis as an altered state of consciousness.  My presentation includes a demonstration of a basic hypnotic induction for volunteers.

It all started years ago when I sent an Email to Dr. Joe Swope, the psychology teacher at Northwest High School in Germantown, Maryland, with the idea he host me as a guest speaker.  Dr. Swope gave me a shot, which I am forever appreciative of.

It's why I was jazzed to make a return to Northwest High School this past week to visit with Dr. Swope and his psychology students.  Here is what Dr. Swope shared on Twitter, which includes a couple of awesome photos from my day on campus at Northwest.

The Color of Hypnosis

How companies employ color to influence purchase decisions is a part of my presentation to high school psychology students about hypnosis as an altered state of consciousness.  It’s all about the connection between the conscious and subconscious minds, and how it shapes our views and reactions.

The discipline is referred to as color psychology, and its applications in both traditional and online commerce are timely and interesting.

Contributing to a Wellness-Palooza

In addition to the time I volunteer to speak on campus with college and high school psychology students about hypnosis as an altered state of consciousness, I also donate my services to perform at wellness-themed events.  I personally get a lot of fulfillment from sharing with people a tool to help them mitigate and manage stress.

Here is a nice note I received from a guidance counselor at the Charles E. Smith Jewish Day School in Rockville, Maryland after my appearance earlier this month at the school's "Wellness-Palooza."

An Amazing Hypnotic Experience for an Amazing High School

 

 

When donating my time to entertain at a post prom or all night graduation party, I pride myself on being professional, flexible, and easy to work with.  For the parents who organize and host these events to it truly is a labor of love designed to keep students safe as they enjoy an important high school milestone.

I have performed my Hypnotic Experience show in gymnasiums, cafeterias, hallways, and even from a broom closet.  I roll with it.

That’s why I was incredibly appreciative when the folks at Our Lady of Good Counsel high school in Olney, Maryland set up this area for me to perform with custom signage.  It helped me deliver a wonderful series of shows for a creative and engaged group of students.

Hypnotic Experience at Lucky Strike

Rather than a stage show, I typically perform a series of mini-shows for volunteers.  It is a flexible approach that fits in well with flow at an after prom event.

Thanks to the Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) at Albert Einstein High School in Kensington, Maryland for including the Hypnotic Experience as part of the entertainment at the post prom event his past weekend.  It was a wonderful event at a wonderful venue -- Lucky Strike Bethesda.
